Teacher Salary Survey 2007

Nevada ranked 19th in the nation for its average teacher salary in 2006-07, according to the American Federation of Teachers’ (AFT) Survey and Analysis of Teacher Salary Trends 2007.

The average teacher salary in Nevada for the 2006-07 school year was $49,426-a 7.2 percent increase from the previous year. Nevada was ranked 18th in the nation for beginning teacher salaries, at $35,480, an increase of 2.6 percent from 2005-06.

In Nevada, the average salary for charter school teachers was $44,521; beginning charter school teachers’ salaries averaged $40,368.

Traditional public school teacher salaries for other states in the Far West Region ranked as follows: California had the highest average teacher pay in the nation, at $63,640; Alaska was 11th, at $54,678; Hawaii was 14th, at $51,916; Oregon was 15th, at $51,080; and Washington was 21st, at $47,880.

South Dakota reported the lowest average teacher salary in the nation, at $35,378.
